Emergency Heating and Cooling Repair, Day or Night

HVAC problems don’t wait for business hours. A furnace or boiler can fail during a winter cold snap, and an air conditioner can quit in a summer heat wave. Courtesy Heating and Cooling offers 24/7 emergency repair service for homeowners across Southern and Seacoast New Hampshire.

Office hours are Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–6:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday 10:00 AM–3:00 PM. Our 24/7 emergency service line is separate from those hours: for urgent problems at night, on weekends or on holidays, call (603) 777-7749.

For emergency service, call (603) 777-7749. For non-urgent service, you can also book online with the Schedule An Appointment button.

Safety First

  • If you smell gas: leave the house immediately, don’t use switches or phones inside, and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
  • If your carbon monoxide alarm sounds: get everyone outside and call 911.
  • If you see smoke or electrical burning: shut off power to the equipment if it’s safe to do so, and call 911 if needed.

Once everyone is safe, call us to repair the equipment.

Common HVAC Emergencies We Handle

No heat

Furnace and boiler failures in winter can quickly become serious, with risks of frozen pipes and unsafe indoor temperatures. We diagnose and repair furnaces, boilers and heat pumps.

No cooling

An air conditioner or heat pump that stops cooling during a heat wave can be dangerous for older adults, young children and pets. See our air conditioning service page for common AC problems.

Leaks and water

Leaking boilers, failed condensate drains and water heater leaks can damage your home. We’ll stop the problem and make the repair.

Geothermal and heat pump lockouts

If your geothermal or air-source heat pump has locked out or is running only on backup heat, we can diagnose it. Learn more about geothermal repair and heat pumps.

What to Do While You Wait

  • Check that the thermostat is set correctly and has working batteries.
  • Check the furnace or air handler filter. A badly clogged filter can shut a system down.
  • Make sure the equipment’s power switch and breaker are on. Don’t reset a breaker repeatedly if it keeps tripping.
  • After a storm, check that outdoor units and furnace vent pipes aren’t blocked by snow or ice.
  • In winter without heat, open cabinet doors under sinks on outside walls to help keep pipes from freezing.

Prevent Emergencies With Maintenance

Many emergency breakdowns start as small problems that routine maintenance would catch. Seasonal heating maintenance and cooling maintenance help keep your systems ready, and you can ask about our $50 Off Maintenance offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer emergency HVAC service 24/7?

Yes. Our 24/7 emergency service line is (603) 777-7749. Regular office hours are Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–6:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday 10:00 AM–3:00 PM; outside those hours, call the same number for emergencies.

What counts as an HVAC emergency?

No heat in cold weather, no cooling in extreme heat, active leaks, and equipment that’s sparking, smoking or tripping breakers are all urgent. If you smell gas or a CO alarm goes off, leave the home and call 911 or your gas utility first.

What should I check before calling?

Check the thermostat settings and batteries, the filter, and the equipment’s power switch and breaker. If those look fine, call us.

Do you handle emergencies for both heating and cooling?

Yes. We handle emergency repairs for furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, heat pumps and geothermal systems.
